Over $5k Garnered for Local Child

Cloud Kirbo, a GCA alumni’s 3 year old son, was a normal kid until this Summer when he began to loose the ability to walk. His parents, Carlyle and Sloan, began seeking medical help and after some time they learned he had a genetic disease called Krabbe Disease. This disease is known for its high fatality rate. After much research, the family realized that Cloud could have a stem cell transplant to slow down the progress of this disease. They reached out to a world renown doctor in Philadelphia and was accepted into a program. Cloud is currently in Pennsylvania receiving treatment that he must complete before the official surgery on Sept 18th. The surgery alone is ticketed at $500,000.
GCA as well as most of our community wanted to help so the Senior Bible Class developed several opportunities for the GCA student to be part of this mission. The first week with a campaign called “Penny Stall” the students were able to donate over $5,000 in change.
