5th Grade World History Projects

Our 5th grade students enjoyed showing off all that they have learned this year in World History.  

Their presentations included their assigned geographic areas, customs, interesting facts, and even a favorite dish.

GCA Students Excel at State 4-H Cloverleaf Project

CONGRATULATIONS to Walker, Owen, Sybil and Caroline for their participation and success at the 4-H Cloverleaf Project Achievement competition in Kathleen, Ga. on Saturday.  Over 500 students from all over Georgia competed.

Each student delivered a speech in their area of interest.

5th grade Move Up Day - March 27th

A fun morning has been planned for our 5th grade students on Tuesday, March 27th.  The morning is called "Move Up" day and they will have the opportunity to see what its like to be in middle school.  They will visit each of the 6th grade classrooms and hear from each of the teachers as to what they will learn and do in 6th grade.  Mr. Starner and Mrs. Shiver will them meet with them to answer questions and talk about the fun side of middle school! 

4th Grade Tours the Nina and Pinta in St. Marks

GCA's 4th grade class had a wonderful opportunity to tour the replica ships of the Nina and Pinta this week. The Columbus Foundation from the BVI has these ships on tour and they made a special stop in St. Marks, FL for students in our area.  Such a fun experience!

Geography Bee Winners Going to State

GCA's middle school students performed well at the GICAA's Regional Geography Bee on Monday, March 12th at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany. Three of our students ended up in the final 8 with two of them doing well enough to move on to State. Congratulations to Jay Lanier for taking 2nd, Benjamin Starks for winning 4th and Noah Kahlbau for finishing in the top 8. Go Cougars!


Learning About Lungs!

Mrs. Miller's 1st grade class has been learning about the lung in science this past week and Mrs. Jenny Harper was gracious enough to come speak with them and teach them how the lungs actually work.
