Winburn Wins State Writing Contest

Congratulations to Mattie Winburn for taking for taking 1st place in the this year's Fair Bear Creative Writing Contest sponsored by The Georgia National Fair.  The theme this year was "Fair Bear Travels Around the World in a Hot Air Balloon" and Mattie was selected as the State winner in the 5th grade division.  The Grand Prize winner will be announced at the Georgia National Fair on October 8th.

4th Graders Design Indian Homes

Mrs Sheffield's fourth grade class has been studying the early history of the United States.  During their study, the students learned about the different Indian homes that existed during this time period.  The students were given an example fo six of these dwellings and asked to make a replica of one of them.  Pictured are Gabe Parker, Brycelyn Law, Kate McRae, and Garrett Donalson.

Coca-Cola Fundraiser

The GCA Athletes are raising money to support our athletic teams.  Please consider helping us by doing something you are probably going to do anyway.....purchase your favorite Coke products through GCA.  Orders must be turned in on or before Tuesday, September 27th.  Pick up day is Thursday, September 29th between 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. in front of the Chapel.

Cougar Soccer defeats Calvary Christian

The GCA Cougar boys soccer team defeated Fort Walton's Calvary Christian Patriots 3-1 on Monday, September 12th.  Chase Harris scored the first goal with an assist from big brother Kyle Harris.  Kyle Harris scored the second goal, and Brent Warr scored the third goal.  A strong defensive
effort was let by Goalie Grant McDonald and Center Fullback Alex Ward.

Magazine/Cookie Dough Earns $10,000

Many, many thanks to all the students and parents that helped with our Fall Fundraiser.  Through the sale of magazines and cookie dough, GCA was able to earn around $10,000!! 

Congratulations to our overall winners  - 1st place winner was Anna Belle Adams and she got to take home $100, 2nd place winner was Breanna Pritchett and she earned an extra $50, and Rachel Harrell came in 3rd and took home a check for $25.  Mary Glenn Warr was a close fourth and got to spin the "cash" wheel for her 29 orders.

Cougars Win East-West Tournament

Coach Ken Bailey's Grace Christian Academy Cougars soccer team won three straight games Friday and Saturday to win the Panhandle Christian Conference East-West Challenge Tournament in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
All three of their opponents, the Aletheia Christian School Lions, the East Hill Christian School Eagles and the Trinitas Christian School Knights, were from Pensacola, FL.
Coach Bailey expressed pleasure with his teams play in the tournament. "The team was never behind in any game," he said. "Their defense was led by goal keeper Grant McDonald wih had several key stops throughout the tournament."
Coach Bailey praised the play of Alex Ward who anchored a strong line of defenders that also included Jim Whitehead, Josh Carnes and Ben Holden.
The offense was led by Chase Harris with four goals, Kyle Harris with three goals, Brent Warr with two goals, Alex Ward with one goal and Anderson Bailey with two assists.
Way to Go Cougars!!
