York Attends Governor's Sendoff and Luncheon

Governor Nathan Deal held a Military Academy Send Off at the State Capital, followed with a luncheon at the Capital City Club on June 5, 2018 for the 130 high school seniors from across the State of Georgia who received appointments and will be entering the five U.S. military service academies (USAFA, USCGA, USMA, USMMA, and USNA) this summer.
One of the attendees was recent GCA graduate, John York, who will be entering the USMMA at the end of June.
The speaker at the Send Off was Brigadier General Diana Holland; a distinguish graduate of the USMA (Class of 1990). Her military service includes tours in Germany, Iraq (Operation of Freedom), Afghanistan (three tours), and Commandant of Cadets at the USMA. Her awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters Medal and the Combat Action Badge, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the German Parachutist Badge, and the Silver Order of the de Fleury Medal. She is currently serving as the Commander US Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division.

11 Turn Tassels on May 20th

















Grace Christian Academy help commencement excercises for 11 seniors on Friday, May 20th at the Perry Gymnasium. Upper School Principal Steve Murr welcomed everyone followed by an opening prayer from Pastor Russell Carlisle. Special music was performed by senior Sydney Harrell and Jeff Eeningenburg.



Class President Taylor McDonald presented the annual Bob Jones Benaiah Medallion to the 2011 Senior Class President, Christina Greene. A saluatatory address was given by both T.J. Carlisle and Tad Young, followed by the valedictory address from Taylor McDonald.
President and CEO of Ponder of Ponder Enterprises and publisher of The Donalsonville News, Dan Ponder gave the graduation address. Ponder who served in the Georgia House of Representatives for several years and grew up on a farm, said education is a key to unlock many doors. "For many years, I have said that the problems here in Southwest Georgia can only be solved by ourselves and that it could only be done through education. You are part of my hope for the future," Ponder told the graduates.


The presentation of diplomas were given out by Upper School Principal Steve Murr and School Board Chairman Erwin Harrell. A slide-show presentation celebrating each of the seniors was enjoyed by all the family and friends at the end of the ceremony. Closing prayer was given by Pastor Andy McQuaid.

K5 Graduation...."Camping Out of Kindergarten

Mrs. Flowers and Mrs. Williams' Kindergarten classes hosted their Graduation Ceremony last night in the Gym. This year's theme was "Camping out of Kindergarten" and the kids did an amazing job singing several songs, reciting several poems along with the Preamble of the Constitution and the Ten Commandments. A wonderful slide show was presented along with the Procession of Graduates and awarding of the diplomas. Great job Mrs. Flowers and Mrs. Williams.....precious evening!
