GCA Sweeps 4H event



Way to Go Cougars!!

Yesterday, four GCA students attended the 4H District Project Achievement in Kathleen, Ga.

All four students earned top honors.

GCA Students Excel at State 4-H Cloverleaf Project

CONGRATULATIONS to Walker, Owen, Sybil and Caroline for their participation and success at the 4-H Cloverleaf Project Achievement competition in Kathleen, Ga. on Saturday.  Over 500 students from all over Georgia competed.

Each student delivered a speech in their area of interest.

GCA HS Students Excel at Project Achievement

Decatur County 4-H’ers attended 4-H Southwest District Project Achievement at Rock Eagle this past weekend.  Students worked diligently over the last year to prepare for the event.  Students submitted a portfolio highlighting the year’s work in main project area, helping and sharing, leadership, 4-H activities, and other activities.   Additionally, students presented a demonstration using posters and visual aids with a topic relevant to their project area.  Middle school demonstrations were 8-10 minutes in length and high school demonstrations were 10-12 minutes in length.  Students represented Decatur County exceptionally well and are commended for their hard work and success.

GCA Students Take 1st at Project Achievement

GCA 4-H'ers Receive Honors at Market Hog Show!

Congratulations to the following GCA, 4-H students on their success this past weekend at the Decatur County Young Farmer Market Hog Show.

Preston Lynn - 2nd place in Pre-Club Showmanship (1st-3rd grade), 3rd place in market hog class and 6th place in market hog class.

Tyler Rentz - 5th place in Senior Showmanship (9th-12th grade) and 7th place in market hog class.

Scott Ross Hayes - 2nd place in market hog class and 2nd place in market hog class.

GCA Students excel at 4-H Project Achievement



Congratulations to our GCA students that participated in the 4-H Project Achievement district competition this past weekend at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.  

Miller Hays won 1st place in the Sheep & Meat Goat project, Branch Austinson placed 2nd in the Fruits, Vegetables & Nuts project, and Journey Austinson received 1st place in the Food Safety & Preservation project.

GCA Students Shine at 4-H District Achievement

The 4-H District Project Achievement is a two-part contest.  One is a portfolio
submission that highlights the work of the 4-H'er for the calendar year. The second
part is the memorized speech related to the project area.  In Performing Arts -
students will perform instead of giving speech.

GCA Students Shine!

Four students represented GCA well at the Bainbridge-
Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival 
Swine Show on Tuesday night Oct. 28th.

Congratulations to the following:
Tyler Rentz won 10th-12th grade Showmanship.
Blake Fagan won 4th-6th grade showmanship.
Carson Lynn won 1st-3rd grade showmanship.

Blake Fagan exhibited the Grand Champion Market Hog.
Miller Hayes exhibited the Grand Champion Commercial Gilt.

GCA Students Shine at 4-H Competition in Perry

Daniel Jones (5th Grade) and Rachel Hayes (3rd Grade)

GCA's Elementary, Middle and HS students shined recently at the 4-H competition in Perry, GA. Congratulatlions to Daniel Jones who won 1st place in the category of Plants, Soil and Fertilizer and to Rachel Hayes for winning 2nd place in the category of Flowers and Shrubs.  In the Middle School area, Miller Hayes won 3rd in the Junior Vet. Science category while High School students Josiah Austinson and Anders Austinson also did well.  Josiah won 1st in Senior Wildlife while Anders placed 2nd in the Senior Fruits, Vegetables, and Nuts category.  Congratulations!!
