GCA middle schoolers joined forces with Bainbridge middle schoolers to host a Mock Legislature on May 10th. The Senate was held in the OS and the House conducted their sessions in the gym. A fun learning experience was had by all!
HS Students visit National Infantry Museum
Mr. Woodrum's 9th & 10th grade students took a field trip to the National Infantry Museum in Fort Benning, GA. The museum honors the history of infantry forces in the United States Army.
The museum is 190,000 square feed in size and cost $107 million to build. Their signature exhibit is called, "The Last 100 Yards" and contains scenes from eight wars in US infantry history and features lifelike figures cast from actual soldiers.
Spaghetti Bridges??
The 8th grade science students, under the direction of Mrs. Smith, had the opportunity to explore the world of engineering while building bridges out of house-hold spaghetti. The students were assigned teams and each team had to research, design, and construct their own bridge. After the bridges were built, they were tested for strength by adding weights of 2 and 5 lbs increments. The strongest bridge, which was built by Josh Carnes, Brent Warr, Jeri Sloan, and Kaitlin Adams was able to hold 42 lbs before it broke.

5th Grade Students Making a Difference
As a part of the Bible curriculum this year, Mrs. Jones 5th grade students have learned about being salt and light in a dark world. In the wake of the tornadoes that recently devastated much of the Southeast, and upon hearing about the tragic losses of life and property, the students wanted to do their part to help out. Mrs. Jones cousin in Alabama has been involved with a clean-up ministry in her area and gave a list of needed items. If you would like to help out, please send your items by Wednesday, May 18th....All items will be donated for the relief effort.

Spring Spectacular
The second annual Spring Spectacular was held Tuesday, May 10th in the OS. This year's program included productions from the drama class, the film class, the GCA Praise Band, and the GCA Stings program. Short performances included the retelling of Hansel & Gretel, The Jimmy Springer Show, Your Love Never Fails, Beaumont Rag, G.I. Joey, The Noticer, Dr. Feele Good, All Around Me, By Your Side, Meekness, and The Prodigal Daughter.

"Muffin For Mom"
Mrs. Sheffield's 4th grade along with Mrs. Jones 5th grade students hosted their annual "Muffins For Moms" breakfast on May 5th in the school cafeteria. This is always a wonderful event as the students celebrate and honor their moms for Mother's Day.

Senior Players Recognized
T.J. Carlisle and Taylor McDonald were honored along with their parents at their last home game and region tournament on April 28th. They were recognized for their many years of service, dedication and contributions to GCA Baseball.

Spring Spectacular - May 10th
The 2nd Annual "Spring Spectacular" presentation will be Tuesday, May 10th in the OS.
There will be two showings: 6:30 p.m. and 8 PM. We will pack three short plays, acoustic music and four film projects into a program that lasts a little over an hour. Tickets will only be $3 per person and can be purchased from the school office.....first come, first serve!
Wax Museum On Display April 28th
On April 28th we had an exciting day at GCA. We had a number of very famous people visit our halls and educate our students. People like; Betsy Ross, William Howard Taft, Jackie Kennedy, Rosa Parks and even Johnny Cash.
GCA 6th & 7th Grade students hosted our annual Wax Museum for students, parents and the public. They did an amazing job and everyone really enjoyed this educational day.

5th Grade Visits Kennedy Space Center
Mrs. Jone's 5th grade students enjoyed a very memorable experience in March.....an "Overnight Adventure" at the Kennedy Space Center. Some of the activities the students got to enjoy included: Making their own rocket to launch; scavenger hunt in astronaut and rocket museum; they got to meet with a real astronaut - Al Worden and ask him questions; they explored the rocket garden; watched an I-Max film, camped out under a real rocket; toured the grounds; and got to feel the "real" experience by sitting in a rocket simulator.
